Best Route Planning for Backcountry Skiing/Splitboarding
Featuring Brittany & Frank Konsella, Co-authors of Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Colorado
Whether you’re an experienced backcountry skier or snowboarder or an intermediate skier looking to ramp up your out-of-bounds expeditions, Brittany and Frank Konsella can point you in the right direction. Both have descended all of the state’s 14ers on skis, with Brittany being the second woman to accomplish that feat. The Konsellas have shown that they have the experience to guide you to Colorado’s special runs after the release of their guidebook “Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Colorado” from Mountaineers Books in fall 2017.
No strangers to exploration, the Konsellas want to help you build the skills you need to successfully plan your own backcountry adventures.
In this presentation, the Konsellas will share all their secrets behind route planning techniques – starting with planning ahead by keeping track of weather and avalanche forecasts, through using digital mapping tools to research and create routes, and then on to using mobile GPS apps to guide them through their adventures. They will also address strategies for what to do when your intended route doesn’t go as planned.
You’re invited to join us to meet and hear the Konsellas. They’ll reveal all their tips and tricks to route planning for backcountry skiing and snowboarding. There’s something here for anyone who loves powder, and is itching to find some new runs this winter!
